Ko tō tūranga – your role

As a Category Consultant in our Procurement team, you’ll be part of the strategic force supporting smarter spending, stronger supplier relationships and risk-based contracts that drive real business impact. You’ll support driving value across your assigned categories — bringing commercial insights, supply market intelligence, and procurement expertise to key decisions.

 

In this role, you’ll contribute to category strategies, champion right-sized sourcing, and ensure procurement activities align with our priorities, delivers exceptional outcomes, and moves the organisation forward. If you love influencing, optimising, and unlocking value, this is where you make it happen.

Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do

  • Support the delivery of category and sourcing strategies to drive cost efficiency, value, and supplier performance.
  • Manage sourcing activities, negotiations, and support management of supplier relationships in line with procurement policies and governance.
  • Provide contract and commercial insights and supply market analysis to inform procurement decisions and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure contracted compliance and alignment with risk, sustainability and ethical sourcing standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and standardisation of procurement processes and tools.

  • Proven experience in procurement, supply chain, or related field.
  • Be a problem solver, having a natural ability to work through complex problems with sound commercial nous.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical capability, and eagerness to learn and continue to develop your career and knowledge.
  • Proven understanding of procurement principles and sourcing processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with procurement systems.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills with a focus on accuracy and service.
