Ko tō tūranga – your role
As our Communications Advisor you will play a vital role in shaping and delivering clear, consistent, and engaging messaging that supports our strategic objectives and strengthens our brand.
This role is responsible for creating and executing internal and external communications initiatives that inform, align, and energise both our people and our stakeholders. Working closely with business leaders, internal teams, and external partners, the Communications Advisor helps ensure communications are timely, effective, and aligned with our values.
Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, strong collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do
- Support the development, implementation, and evaluation communication plans and campaigns that support business priorities, change initiatives, and transformation projects.
- Manage and monitor internal communication channels, including newsletters, intranet and employee updates, ensuring staff are informed, engaged, and connected to One NZ’s strategy, purpose and culture.
- Support external communications, including media relations, press releases, and proactive media pitching; act as a point of contact for media enquiries and help manage the company’s public image.
- Create high-quality content for a variety of platforms and audiences, including written, visual, and digital formats (e.g., website, social media, presentations, reports).
- Coordinate and help deliver events (in-person, virtual, or hybrid) that engage external and internal audiences (including for disparate staff e.g. retail, different offices across the country, remote).
Na tōu rourou - what you’ll bring
- 2 + years experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field, ideally with exposure to both internal and external communications.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging content for diverse audiences. Experience in basic video production would be advantageous, but not required.
- Experience managing digital channels (intranet, social media) and producing content across multiple platforms.
- Confident working with media, including drafting media releases and responding to enquiries.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and influence at all levels.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities including events, with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Familiarity with the telecommunications industry and its regulatory environment is advantageous but not required.
