Ko tō tūranga – your role

The purpose of the Cyber Defense Analyst role is to implement security protocols, handle incident response activities, deploy tools, monitor systems, and apply defenses, following the guidance and recommendations provided by the senior analyst.

Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do

  • Threat hunting and vulnerability management within the One NZ environment and coordination of remediation activities with other teams
  • Responding to SIEM alerts, assessing the risk and managing any incident through to resolution
  • When required is willing to work as part of a cross-functional technical response team in responding to significant security incidents alongside other One NZ teams
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and customers regarding security threats, mitigations and responses
  • Being part of an on-call roster and having a strong desire to deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment

Na tōu rourou - what you’ll bring

  • A degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat landscape, and common attack vectors.
  • Familiarity with security tools and technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and EDR/XDR.
  • The ability to work under direction and to quickly gain knowledge in a range of technologies.
  • Experience in Linux, Windows, Splunk, Scripting, TCP/IP, DNS, Packet/Log Analysis will be highly advantageous
  • Certifications such as SSCP, GSEC, Security+ would be desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
