Ko tō tūranga – your role
As Financial Accounting Lead – Reporting, you will play a key role in safeguarding the financial integrity of One New Zealand through the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality financial reporting. Leading and developing the team that is responsible for the preparation of half-year and annual financial statements, monthly group reporting, and supporting a strong audit outcome through robust governance, compliance, and best practice application of NZ IFRS and Tier 1 reporting requirements.
This is an opportunity for a technically strong finance professional to take ownership of critical reporting deliverables while building capability within the team. Working closely with the Financial Controller, auditors, and key business stakeholders, you will provide leadership across reporting processes, strengthen controls, and drive continuous improvement across systems and ways of working. The role will suit someone who combines strong financial reporting expertise with people leadership, sound judgement, and a passion for improving how finance supports decision-making, transparency, and business performance.
Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do
- Lead and develop the team, providing coaching, support, and clear direction
- Deliver accurate half-year and annual financial statements, including Audit Committee reporting
- Oversee month-end and year-end reporting, group consolidation, and statutory cash reporting
- Partner with auditors and support a smooth, well-managed audit process
- Provide trusted accounting advice to stakeholders to support sound business decisions
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger, reconciliations, and financial controls
- Drive improvements across finance systems, processes, and reporting efficiency
- Champion strong governance, compliance, and financial reporting best practice
Na tōu rourou - what you’ll bring
- Strong experience in financial reporting, including NZ IFRS, Tier 1 requirements, group accounting, and consolidations
- Strong technical accounting capability, with the ability to apply IFRS in a practical business environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through complex processes, systems, and change
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy
- Strong understanding of systems, process improvement, and change management, with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement effective solutions
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing others
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across the business
- Big 4 audit, large corporate /complex industry experience
- Chartered Accountant qualification, or equivalent
