Ko tō tūranga – your role

Please note this is a 9-12 month fixed term contract.

 

Reporting into the Deputy CFO as the Financial Controller you will be responsible for leader our sizable Financial Accounting team.

 

Your role will be to ensure integrity of reported financial performance, balance sheet position and compliance with associated One NZ Policies and External Reporting standards.

 

You will develop relationships with all stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the follow:

  • Ensure a robust control environment for One NZ to minimise the risk of financial loss.
  • Provide technical accounting support to the business to support decision making and ensure a “no surprises” audit.
  • Ensure processes are optimised to minimise risk and maximise efficiency.
  • Lead cash management and forecasting.

Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do

  • Lead and develop a large financial operations team of professionals, providing guidance, mentorship and performance feedback.
  • Produced Tier One Financial Reporting in compliance with all relevant financial reporting regulations and policies
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity, including cash forecasting and strategies to optimise working capital.
  • Provide accounting treatment guidance for business cases and product launches/changes to ensure compliance and minimise risk of surprises.
  • Ensuring integrity and completeness of monthly general ledger postings, including robust balance sheet reconciliations that comply with policy.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Evaluate, implement and optimise financial systems and processes to streamline operations and improve controls/accuracy.
  • Management of internal and external auditor relationship and audit process.
  • Provision and presentation of Audit Committee deliverables in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Support Board, Infratil and Banking reporting/compliance through timely provision of accurate financial information.
  • Upskill broader finance team on key accounting concepts and developments.
  • Develop a customer obsessed culture within team.

Na tōu rourou - what you’ll bring

  • 10+ years financial accounting experience including 5+ years post qualified experience.
  • Excellent technical accounting skills including a working knowledge of IFRS and its business application.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and cash management.
  • Demonstrated competence in continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills and ability to work through and understand complex process flows, systems and changes management.
  • Effective stakeholder communications.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Big 4 audit experience, large company and/or Telco industry experience Preferred.
  • CAANZ Chartered Accountant qualification or equivalent.
