Ko tō tūranga – your role
As the Frontend Engineer, your role is to design, develop, and maintain high-quality web and mobile applications that deliver seamless and engaging user experiences. You are responsible for building scalable, performant, and intuitive digital solutions using Flutter, ensuring strong integration with backend services and APIs. This role plays a key part in delivering reliable, efficient, and user-centric applications that enhance both customer and employee digital experiences.
Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do
- Develop and maintain web and mobile applications using Flutter.
- Ensure applications are responsive, performant, and compatible across platforms.
- Work collaboratively with design teams to deliver intuitive, visually polished, and high-quality user interfaces that reflect strong design standards and deliver an engaging, modern user experience.
- Contribute to component designs and participate in design reviews.
- Integrate frontend applications with backend services using APIs.
- Work collaboratively with backend teams to enable standardised, reliable and efficient data exchange.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of integration issues.
- Optimise applications for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Apply best practices in code structure, modularity, and resource management.
- Develop and maintain unit and integration tests.
- Identify and resolve defects across web and mobile platforms.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, designers, business analysts, and product owners.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and stand-ups.
- Leverage AI-assisted tools across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to improve productivity, quality, and delivery outcomes.
- Promote best practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Na tōu rourou - what you’ll bring
- Strong experience developing web and mobile applications using Flutter, with familiarity in React or React Native advantageous.
- Proven ability to integrate APIs, including RESTful services, with working knowledge of GraphQL.
- Sound understanding of responsive design, accessibility, modern UI practices, and cross-platform development principles.
- Demonstrated capability in performance optimisation, improving application scalability, and delivering efficient, high-quality user experiences.
- Experience with unit testing, integration testing, debugging tools, version control, Git, ADO, and CI/CD practices.
- Ability to use AI-assisted tools across the SDLC to improve development, testing, and documentation, while applying sound judgement to ensure outputs meet engineering, security, and quality standards.
