Ko tō tūranga – your role
As the Junior Frontend Engineer – Digital your role is to support the design, development, and maintenance of web and mobile applications, building your capability in delivering scalable, high-performing, and user-friendly digital solutions. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to contribute to customer and employee digital experiences, while developing strong foundations in modern engineering practices, tools, and technologies.
Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do
• Develop and maintain web and mobile applications using Flutter, with guidance from senior engineers
• Ensure applications are responsive, accessible, and function seamlessly across platforms
• Collaborate with design teams to deliver intuitive and visually consistent user interfaces
• Contribute to component development and participate in design and code reviews
• Integrate frontend applications with backend services using APIs, supporting data exchange and troubleshooting issues
• Apply best practices to support application performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure quality and reliability
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects across web and mobile platforms
• Work collaboratively with developers, testers, designers, and product teams in Agile delivery environments
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
• Use AI-assisted tools across the software development lifecycle under guidance
• Stay up to date with emerging frontend technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Na tōu rourou - what you’ll bring
• Foundational experience developing web and mobile applications using Flutter, with exposure to React or React Native advantageous
• Understanding of APIs, including RESTful services and frontend-backend integration concepts
• Knowledge of responsive design principles and modern UI/UX practices
• Experience with testing practices including unit and integration testing, along with debugging tools
• Familiarity with Git and standard development workflows
• Willingness to learn and apply AI-assisted tools across the software development lifecycle
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to following coding standards and best practices
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with openness to feedback and continuous learning
