Ko tō tūranga – your role
Join One NZ as our Principal Architect – Data and AI and lead the future of our data and analytics capabilities! In this pivotal role, you will provide expert technical leadership across Data, Business Intelligence (BI), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Analytics, shaping the roadmap and driving innovative solutions.
As the technical authority in this domain, you’ll own the architecture, ensuring alignment and accountability for all related areas. You’ll define current and future states, guide transformative change, and foster strong stakeholder relationships to ensure smooth communication and successful delivery.
You’ll also work closely with vendors and partners to stay ahead of emerging technologies and integrate cutting-edge features into our roadmap. If you’re passionate about shaping the future of data and analytics, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact!
Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do
- Executive level engagement to understand requirements and communication of roadmap and vision.
- Supporting and in some cases providing solution designs for projects and squads
- Ensuring robust solution design governance is in place for all designs that impact your domain, and that these solutions align to relevant standards, solution goals and roadmaps. Ability to influence designs to ensure standards are achieved.
- Driving process improvement across the architecture community, and providing Architecture CoE best practices and standards that can be leveraged.
- Sharing technical knowledge with the engineering and architecture community, which supports long-term growth and development of our people
- Supporting the Production Services team on production incidents, problems and change
- Coordinate the implementation of enterprise data architecture through the organisation's enterprise data management programmes and govern data architects in the appropriate data-modelling and data design activities.
- Champion efforts to improve business performance through enterprise information solutions and capabilities, such as master data management, metadata management, business intelligence, content management, data integration, and related information management or information infrastructure components.
- Evaluate emerging trends such as big data, open data and linked data, and determine the impacts on the future-state enterprise data architecture.
- Delivering world class data capability which enables the business to realise value through consistent, accurate, reliable, and high-quality data and innovative data, reporting and analytical solutions

- In-depth experience in designing and implementing enterprise-wide cloud data and analytics platforms
- Proven success in providing solution architecture expertise for complex projects or large programmes
- You bring energy, enthusiasm, and creativity to your practice, pushing the boundaries of what is possible, delighting your stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills – being able to run workshops and drive decision making across technical and non-technical individuals
- Good to have telecom domain knowledge
- Good to have experience in one or more of these public clouds: AWS, Azure and GCP.
- Broad experience in the technology industry working with a variety of architectural frameworks and styles
- You have a passion for technology and are constantly learning to keep your skills up to date with the latest in technology
- A self-starter who is well organised and can manage their workload effectively
- A team player with a quality focus and values that align with those of One NZ
