Ko tō tūranga – your role

As the Principal Engineer - DevOps Tooling & Practices, you will be pivotal in delivering technical expertise squads and driving the continuous improvement of our engineering practices, utilizing methodologies like Agile and Continuous Delivery.

 

Your primary objective is to empower engineers to enhance their skills and performance by adopting industry-leading best practices.

 

Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do

  • Lead and represent the team, inspiring and encouraging Chapter members of DevOps tooling to develop professionally, providing coaching and mentorship.
  • Contribute to the DevSecOps strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and technology initiatives.
  • Champion effective adoption of continuous delivery methodology, practice, and attitudes / mindsets
  • Partner with Principal Engineers, Chapter Leads, Product Owners, Architects, and other roles to oversee future developments and deliverables.
  • Set and maintain minimum standards, never accepting below standard performance 
  • Role model in the development of DevOps Capabilities across industry trends, technologies, methodologies, and behaviours
  • Support the applications in production environment that are under your team’s portfolio.
  • Design, Develop and Implement continuous improvement processes through automation and implementing modern technologies & methodologies such as AI DevOps.
  • Contribute to adoption of Cloud -native Security tools and bridging the gap between security & development teams. Promoting the SAC (security as code ) tools and application of ML & AI in the field of Security.
  • Design and build the CI/CD pipelines services following industry best practices

  • Extensive experience in DevOps, SecOps, and DevSecOps practices,
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring technical teams, including DevOps, security, and software development teams.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines & platforms, emphasizing automation, efficiency, and security.
  • Tooling and Automation
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of DevOps and security tools, including CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab), configuration management (e.g., Ansible, Terraform), and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience with security tools (e.g., SonarQube, Snyk, HashiCorp Vault) and monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk).
  • Cloud Platforms - Proficiency with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including experience with cloud-native services, security best practices, and infrastructure as code.
  • Experience integrating security into the software development lifecycle, including implementing SAST, DAST, and other security practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and experience in managing backlogs, sprints, and releases.
  • Scripting and Development - Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or Go, and a working knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript).
  • Strong communication skills, with experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, security professionals, and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and build consensus.
