Ko tō tūranga – your role

As the Senior Frontend Engineer – Digital your role is to design, develop, and maintain high-quality web and mobile applications while providing technical leadership across the frontend domain. You will deliver scalable, performant, and user-friendly digital solutions using Flutter, ensuring seamless integration with backend services. This role plays a key part in shaping frontend architecture, engineering standards, and best practices, contributing to exceptional customer and employee digital experiences.

Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do

Design and develop high-quality web and mobile applications using Flutter
• Deliver responsive, performant, and cross-platform compatible applications
• Collaborate with design teams to create intuitive, visually polished user interfaces
• Lead component design and contribute to design reviews and frontend architecture decisions
• Integrate frontend applications with backend services using APIs and standardised data exchange patterns
• Troubleshoot complex integration issues and promote best practices in API consumption
• Optimise applications for performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Apply best practices in code structure, modularity, and resource management
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to improve quality and coverage
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects across web and mobile platforms
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, designers, and product owners
• Provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, and contribute to code reviews
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning and stand-ups
• Leverage AI-assisted tools across the SDLC to improve productivity and delivery outcomes
• Evaluate emerging frontend technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Na tōu rourou - what you’ll bring

• Extensive experience as a Frontend developer, developing web and mobile applications using Flutter, with React or React Native as an advantage
• Deep understanding of frontend architecture, design patterns, and cross-platform development principles
• Proven experience integrating APIs, including RESTful services, with knowledge of GraphQL
• Demonstrated ability to optimise performance, scalability, and user experience
• Experience with testing practices including unit and integration testing, debugging tools, and CI/CD pipelines
• Proficiency with version control tools such as Git and platforms like ADO
• Ability to effectively use AI-assisted tools across the SDLC while maintaining engineering quality and security standards
• Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers and contributing to team capability uplift
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to deliver clean, maintainable code
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with a continuous learning mindset
