Ko tō tūranga – your role
As Business Development Manager, you will be the driving force behind growing One New Zealand’s presence in the Christchurch market by winning new business and building lasting customer relationships.
Focused on organisations of around 20 to 500 FTE, you will identify opportunities, open doors, and turn conversations into meaningful commercial outcomes.
This is a role for someone who thrives on creating momentum, enjoys being out in the market, and is energised by helping customers solve real business challenges through smart technology and connectivity solutions. You will work closely with customers to understand their goals, shape solutions that support innovation and growth, and position One New Zealand as a trusted digital partner of choice.
Success in this role comes from combining strong prospecting and relationship-building skills with commercial drive, curiosity, and a genuine passion for delivering value. Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do
- Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting and customer acquisition
- Build a strong understanding of customer goals and identify technology solutions that support growth and innovation
- Develop and maintain trusted stakeholder relationships that enhance customer experience and improve conversion outcomes
- Lead sales opportunities from initial engagement through to close across mobile, fixed, and ICT solutions
- Grow market presence through networking, referrals, partnerships, and engagement with key business communities
- Foster long-term customer relationships that drive loyalty, retention, and sustainable growth
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver shared team goals and strong customer outcomes
- Provide clear and accurate reporting on sales performance, pipeline activity, and business growth opportunities

- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, influencing, and negotiation skills
- Strong commercial drive, with a proven track record of delivering results and making sound decisions
- Ability to understand customer needs and translate them into solutions that support business growth and digital transformation
- High attention to detail, with strong written communication, planning, and reporting skills
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the initiative and drive to achieve outcomes at pace
- Collaborative team player with a positive, can-do approach
- Proven experience in account management or business development roles
- Telecommunications or technology industry experience preferred, but not essential
- Strong solution-selling experience across multiple channels and customer segments
- Experience using CRM systems to manage customer activity and sales pipelines
